Various science-based videos created for the National Security Sciences Directorate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

Production role:  Various

During my communications and science writing internship at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, I was tasked with creating various short videos promoting the research and researchers in the lab’s National Security Sciences directorate. These videos will be viewed in a variety of settings, including conferences, conventions, job fairs, social media, and YouTube.

My responsibilities on these projects included*:

  • Writing scripts and project outlines

  • Communicating with researchers regarding topics, logistics, reviews, and final publication

  • Conducting and shooting interviews, often with very limited equipment

  • Recording audio and mic-ing interviewees

  • Lighting shots

  • Editing videos with Adobe Premiere Pro

*Responsibilities varied depending on project length, additional collaborators, and availability of preexisting footage.
